Our Services
The East African Association is a community-led charity providing opportunities in sports, wellbeing and education for low-income families. We support children, young people and parents with practical services such as housing and immigration advice, benefits and employment support, women & girls only activities, school holiday programmes, early years support and youth prevention work.
How We Support Our Community
Since 2016, we’ve grown from working with just 20–30 children to engaging hundreds of young people and families every year. Our office is open four days a week, offering drop-in support for those who need help most. Everything we do is led by young leaders from the same communities we serve, making our services trusted, relevant and impactful.

Community Sport
Sport is at the heart of the East African Association. Through football and athletics, we give children and young people a safe, positive place to belong, grow and dream big.
Since we started in 2016, our football and sports programmes have grown from 20–30 children to over 100 young people of different ages and genders. Our club, Streatham FC, focuses on developing good human beings, role models and young leaders. If some go on to become professional athletes, that’s a bonus — but our main goal is to help them build confidence, discipline and life skills.
By investing in community sport, we create healthier lifestyles, stronger friendships and positive role models for the next generation.
Community Education and Skills
We believe education and skills are key to breaking cycles of poverty. The East African Association supports children, young people and adults to learn, train and progress.
Our community education and skills work includes training, workshops and one-to-one support that help people improve their language, confidence and employability. We also guide families through benefits and employment support, so they can better understand their rights, access opportunities and move towards more stable futures.
Community Wellbeing
Wellbeing is more than just physical health. We create safe, friendly spaces where people can connect, feel supported and look after their mental and emotional health.
Our programmes include women & girls only activities, group sessions and community events that encourage people to be active, talk openly and support one another. Many of our participants are repeat attendees, showing that these spaces are trusted and needed.
By focusing on wellbeing, we help families feel less isolated and more connected to their community.
Welcome & Integration
Many of the families we support are new to the UK or facing complex challenges. We help them settle, feel welcome and find their feet.
Our team offers practical support with housing, immigration, early years and youth prevention, as well as everyday issues that affect low-income families. We work closely with partners such as London FA, Lambeth Council, Wandsworth Council and StreetGames UK to make sure our community can access the right services at the right time.
Our goal is simple: to make sure every person who comes through our doors feels seen, supported and part of the community.
